A trip to Narayangaon has been long long overdue. Right now i am in the middle of recovering from a intestinal infection. Once i cross this bridge, we will hit Narayangaon first thing.

True. India as an investment destination will continue to attract attention, but the market will be more regulated in times to come. Regulation is also important considering the reality that all a lot of unaccounted money is flowing in through the broker/ agent route. There is no mechanism to oversee this revenue stream, mostly which in cash.
The fact that certain builders are offering BMWs, prepaid EMIs, 0% loan, and are ready to use to the word 'negotiate', speaks a lot about the prevailing mindset. The sentiment amongst people is to stay away from buying houses right now. Speculators are exiting at previously unthinkable rates, just to minimize the losses/ loss in notional profits.
Anything to keep the prices at the same level. I think by Jan-Feb 09, we will have a clearer picture of how the govt. plans to regulate this market.

Good logic, however in my opinion the long term story for India still remains bullish. Fundamentals are trong. Prices may not drop beyond 15-20% especially in 2nd grade cities. I seriously doubt if there is crash in the real estate market, a slow down is being withnessed.

Builders are giving freebies, free parking, stamp duty payment etc; not willing to bring down prices...as yet Oct 15,2008.

I echo your feelings Vaibhav. At one point of time i too was considering a career in the civil services, but somewhere along, i lost the ambition. The problem of trying to educate people is that there is no real motivation people have that can make them stick to their resolutions. Our "Chalta hai" attitude, and "Mera kaam ho gaya na!" is our greateset fallacy.

I had a time in my life where i was seriously looking at an option of moving to Civil Services. In that I attended a lecture organized by Chanakya Mandal - formed by ex IAS officer - Avinash Dharmadhikari. He was part of Bihar Administration for 2 years and he shared that we have enough machinary and resources to combat any disaster - but what we lack is 'POLITICAL WILL' to take things into reality. He said he could not fight alone there so he resigned from there and formed Chanakya Mandal which every year coach @ 20-30 officers in all civil services. He is a believer that over a period of time - things will improve as people thinking like him increase.... Lets "pray" for that...

As i moved along my desire to go into that was washed and sadly I should admit - i these days more of spectator and keep thinking for the people who suffer... but as you said - we can make people accountable and become more proactive...

Good thinking and good timing to reflect those thinking...

I think domestic households or cars may not be possibly covered under the public-place-zone. :-)
Cant help it, I am too much of an anti-Smokes person I cant see reason as to disrupting freedom of smoking.

Nope, BA and Cathay Pacific Do not allow smoking in-flight. I am not sure of Kenya Air, never travelled that Airline. As far as I know other than a couple of airlines in the Gulf, none of the major International Airlines allow it.
I hope they are successful in honestly implementing this rule and not misusing it.

hehe. Sir i am not a regular smoker. :). Once in a while is how i like it.
My angst is against taking away the right from the people. There was absolutely no need to ban smoking in pvt offices. There are special zones for smoking, and except the smoker, i dont see how it harms any one else?
The cops will be smiling for sure. Mr. Ramadoss forgot to out a ban on other tobacco products like Gutka etc, whose spit can cause TB, and other air borne diseases. Sigh..we always learn by redoing everything atleast 200 times. :)

You are smoking now...with anger! That's about the only safe 'smoking' that is permitted in most places as long as you don't blow the 'smoke' into the faces of others.

More than the humble Shri Ram Das(Ramdoss) who has noble intentions, it will be the cops who must be celebrating. It opens up another revenue stream for them!

C'mon, be happy that you will smoke fewer cigarettes and live longer.
